October 2008 – January 2009
In preparation for this project, two years prior Arctic Engineering provided and installed a complete replacement of the chiller plant servicing the entire campus. This project included the demolition and installation of centrifugal and absorption chillers complete with the pumps and associated piping configurations. Due to the level of professionalism and quality of work on the initial phase of this project, Arctic was selected to continue with the Emergency Department Modernization, doubling the square footage for this department. This massive piping project consisted of installation between the boiler plant to the new building Emergency Department:

  • Med Gas – Oxygen, Vacuum, and Med Air throughout the entire facility
  • Hot Water Heating for the dual duct system
  • Chilled Water for the air-handling equipment
  • Steam for the humidifiers
  • Natural Gas

All hydronic piping was installed with an electric heat-tracing cable system

Arctic’s project manager coordinated all MEP and fulfilled the requirements for temporary heating for this very aggressive fast-track project. His expertise in scheduling allowed the hospital to continue to operate in a ‘business as usual environment’ with absolutely no internal downtime at all. In addition to the absence of disruption to the functionality of the hospital, the project was value-engineered from the original scope by our construction team to save valuable time and money.
