Protsman Elementary School located in Dyer, IN is part of the Lake Central School Corporation and constructed a new 124,000 sq. ft. facility in 2012-13. As noted in The Times newspaper, “Among highlights of the state-of-the-art school will be a media center reading area and reading lab, computer lab off the media center, a multi-purpose stage, large cafeteria and a community center with a kitchenette. Administrators say it will provide students and teachers with a safer, updated learning facility.”
The new elementary school was part of a $160 million referendum, which included the demolition of the previous school and the vast expansion of Lake Central High School in St. John. Arctic Engineering provided the HVAC work, including cooling towers, boilers, pumps, ventilators, heat pumps, energy-recovery air-handlers, and Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) Air Conditioning.

This work required extensive HVAC piping and ductwork throughout the facility. This project also utilized BIM (Building Information Modeling) prior to construction start, in order to facilitate the field installation, and allow the trades to resolve any conflicts prior to construction.
